mount by the amp (in the trunk) or by the comp speaker (in the kick panel area). obviously im gonna need more wire if i mount them by the amp since one wire goes in and two come out so id prefer to mount them by the speakers is one way better than the other?

Most manuals will recommend mounting crossovers as close to the speakers as possible, but in my experience it really makes no difference. I usually stuff them behind the kick panels or mount them somewhere in the trunk...depending on how nice the crossovers look.

what gauge speaker wire did you use going from amp to crossover and crossover to tweeter/midrange? i was thinking 12ga from the amp to the crossover and 16ga to the tweeter and mid? components are ID CTX65CS and amp is sundown sax125.2

I recently mounted my crossovers under the dash pad anchored to the main metal support structure. It made it easy to run wires to my front amp, both sets of tweeters, and the mid woofers in the doors. On my Saturn it takes 30 seconds to pull the dash pad so the crossover are protected, unseen, and easy to access.

If you have your speaker wire on hand you're fine doing 12 ga to the crossovers but you won't hear any difference using the bigger wire.

I have mine mounted in the door. It's not a very good place though because it's a pain in the as.s to hook up or disconnect the wires. When I get my new comps I'll most likely mount them behind the kick panel somewhere. If I were you I'd mount them wherever is easiest to hide/access them.

i dont have any speaker wire yet but im gonna order some from knu just dont know what to get yet. is quality speaker wire not that important for mids and highs?
