Where to get fabricating experience!! Please help

LOL Kinda reminds me of the UTI (Universal Technical Institute) automotive technology.

The main thing I learned at that POS place was how bad I hated working on cars and "Refer to the manual"

So I know what you mean now.

yea I was there also man. I went to Ferris State..they have a 4 year bachelor program in automotive engineering....sammmmmme ole crap.

the best advice on here is to build up your own car

it'll get you the best experiance, because you don't need to worry to much about messing up, because you can rip it out and start over if you don't like it.

anything ive ever done to someonelse's car, ive tried first on my own car, it's jsut always worked good for me

BTW how is that school? i was looking at it for the fall, i'd LOVE to work in a shop.

They teach you every aspect of car audio, from how to do it to how it works, and why it works the way it does. Like literally....everything. So pretty much they teach you everything in 9 weeks...the problem is how much of it you want to absorb/can understand. A lot of it I couldnt even understand cause I have never seen or heard of half the things they talk about.

i would suggest that you simply make a small mold of an area of your car ... like if you was doing kicks. once that mold is made you dont need to do anything else to your car. pop it out take inside and from this mold you can make as many more as you like this way you can practice making pods glassing bondoing painting carpeting etc. in your spare time and not worry about messing anything up or spending to much money. i also wanna take up glassin etc and this would be the way i am going that way i can get use to the mixing and application without it costing much . once you get that down to a science you can move on to something a bit bigger with more confidence.

just practice practice practice...i went to Installer Institute...learned a lot of good stuff there, and 75% of it was HANDS ON. which was nice also. picked up some good skilllllllz goin there. now i just have to put them to use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Is that the one run by fishman?

see that was my main problem...its hands on...but you only do it once, and thats it...by the time my 9th week was over...id already almost forgotten the first 2-3 weeks since we didnt repeat it..

Again thanks for the advice guys. I would really like to glass a few parts of my car so I could practice making different kinds of pods and what not..but I dont even know how to make my first pod......besides that..im so broke, and fiberglass and bondo isnt the cheapest thing either...ESP if i mess up and have to do it again...theres 30 bucks down the drain....but once i get a little cash I would really like to try out a few different things.

thanks again
