I just bought a sealed box for my 10w7. It didn't come with any pre-drilled holes so i guess i will have to do it myself. any ideas on how where to drill them and how many? is there a template i can follow?

also, it didn't come wtih any wires inside the box to connect to the sub. how many gauge wire should i use to power the sub? thanks!

Why bother posting if you arent going to help ?

Stupid question, not really, maybe he's never done this before

Stupid answer...very

Now for some real help:

Just stick the sub in the enclosure so the W is level with the enclosure, not cockeyed. Then just screw it down. Its as simple as that.

Most subs dont come with a template for the screws, just the cutout opening.

If you have drill bits, pre drill. Use a bit thats smaller than the screws you are going to use and keep lt level. Nothing worse than crooked screw holes that split and dont catch. As for the wires, any speaker wire will do. 16-12 ga is more than enough.

i am drilling holes to mount the sub. the box already has a terminal cup.

so i can just put the sub over the box and screw the scerws on by hand without any predrilling?

thanks for the reply on the size of speaker wires to use. now that do people normally use to connect the speaker wires to the inside of the terminal cups? they're like two gold prongs sticking out

Solder. You'll need to run some of the wire through the hole on the prongs, and "tie" the wire to itself, then solder it to the prong. Wrap the wire in electrical tape afterward to hold it in place.

If you cant predrill, most likely from what ive seen, on your first screw in, you get lots of air leaks. First just screw everything in, and then take it out, screw the screws into the holes now, far enough for your sub, and screw the sub in. For best sealing, screw one side in about halfway, then screw the side opposite side from that about halfway. Repeat this all the way around, then screw them in another 25% or so, repeat all around, then the last little bit. Depending on your sub though, box, and screws, you may be able to get it sealed the first time, it all depends. I just always screw subs in that way for best results.
