Where to connect voltage meter?

i searched but nothing was really a clear answer to my particular question.

i'm wanting to run a voltmeter to monitor my voltage since i will be running 2 batteries, mid power system, air ride, tvs, etc. not so much just for the audio voltage drop but more for the entire electrical system. should i connect it directly to the battery or wiuld running it of an accesory wire (cig lighter to be specific) be ok?

u can run it to a fuse in the fuse box to the radio or cig lighter there u will have a constant power when car is on. i just pull the fuse out and stick the wire in and push the fuse back in. and then ground there should be bolts or nuts that connects to good metal

so will the reading be an accurate representation of the over all voltage?

i am taking my cig lighter out to replace it with an air pressure gauge and i would like to do matching voltage right next to it off an acc terminal block from the ex-cig lighter, but if i need to run it straight off a battery i'll get the MUCH cheaper stinger and put it in the back with my power network.

connect it to the place in which you want to find the voltage. IE, you want the voltage going into the amp then put it into the amp, if you want the voltage of the battery up front, then connect it to the battery up front
