where to buy fuse holders

I need an anl fuse holder that accepts 4 gauge wire, and it must be set screw. I need to externally fuse my new amp. Everything I look at it's around 30 dollars for a fuse holder.... The 1/0 gauge ones are 10$ whereas the 4 gauge is a whole 20 buks more!

Also if you guys can help, how do I figure out the size fuse I need to fuse my amp with? Is it watts divided by voltage?

Most will advise to fuse according to the wire sizing. You should prob go ahead and run 1/0g anyway, for when you wants more powers, we always wants more powers. I usually get my gear direct from knu concepts, there are also vendors on here that can assist as well, hope you find what you need dude.

Fuse rating is for the wire not amp but it really depends on the amps power for what fuse you wanna run if you want to do it that way for instance. A 1000 watt rms amp will need a 100 amp fuse I have what you want and fuse. New as always

I thought there was a fuse for the wire and a fuse for the amp? My amp, Taramps HD 3000 1 ohm, does not come fused. I need to fuse it on the wire right? The fuse for the wire is by the battery, the fuse for the amp is by the amp, right? Isn't the fuses in amps to protect the amp?

Some of the larger amps only need the fused wire. For that amp. You need 0 gauge wire. A 300 amp fuse and 0 to 4 gauge reducers You can fuse by the amp if you like. But since it will be fused by the battery. It's not needed. Unless your running 2 amps. They a distro block. Then fuse at or between the block and amps

will running 4 gauge for a month be bad? I do plan on doing it up with 1/0 OFC and I have the reducers already but next week I will have just enough to buy the amp and not much else so I was just gonna buy the 1/0 wire when I buy my alternator mid September. I'm not going to be turning the amp up really at all because I still have stock alt.

Heard that a million times.

Just wait until you have everything.

lol I'm tellin ya I'm not turning it up. I'm buying the amp next Friday because I sold my amp yesterday on CL to have some help buying this new amp. So right now I have no amp. I wanna put the amp in just so I can have SOME bass until I can get my alt in a couple weeks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Will the 4 gauge burn up running this amp on it tho?

I am gonna be getting either SHCA or Knu ofc to redo my big three, my second battery wiring, and the wiring for my amp, but all that is kind of expensive and so that's why I'm just gonna get the amp, then the alt, and then the wire. By the time my alt comes in I'll have the wires all done anyway.

Sounds like a cheap cca kit. That's not true 4 gauge. I wouldn't risk it
yeah idk what it is. It was in the truck when I bought it running about 1000 watts. It's copper all the way through tho. I haven't scraped it with a knife to see but it's not silver on the inside.

Check the weight. If it feels light. The cca. Also Lloyd at the cut wire. See how thick the wire is compared to the jacket
