Make sure you read up on screwing into it. Need to be careful you don't melt it while you're drilling into it!

how thick would you need for a box??

I an going to do windows that may have to hold weight at some point so I was looking at 1/4. The length may be up to 20" but the width will be relatively small, probably no larger than 8" so I think the 1/4" will be strong enough. If I was doing a larger area I might move up to 1/2" to 3/4".

Using 1/4" is easy. There are some tricks to making amp racks so you don't even have to screw the plexi if you don't want to.

Check out ebay, there are a couple folks that CUT FOR FREE straight cuts only, up to 5 cuts. Up to 1/2" or 1" lexan. I use 1/2 for windows and such, 1" is best but 1/2 works for me.

Alright I ordered a 1/4" thick 12" x 24" piece of lexan from Amazon for $19.99 and free shipping. I would think that should be more than enough. I also ordered a etched glass film to cover it and then I will cut-out a logo or design. Also purchased were 16' of blue 12v LED's and some industrial velcro. I think I have everything needed to build my false floor.

Now I need an idea for my a logo. Any suggestions?

Also, anyone use the etched glass film?

Seems easy enough to use. Hopefully I will have good results. I think I might do three pieces, the center piece will be an omega symbol, to the left and right will be the fj logo. I think it will look nice. Any other suggestions or ideas?

To drill holes, you just have to do it at a slow PM. Lube the bit up frequently with dawn or palmolive and dip it in a cup of water. This works for me, I'm sure there's other ways.

I don't think I will need to drill. What I plan to do is rabbet a edge for the 1/4" lexan to sit on 1/4" deep, then make a 1/4" piece of trim to sit on top to hold it down. Once covered with carpet you shouldn't be able to see the top trim, it will just look like the lexan is recessed a 1/4".

Another though I had was to rabbet a 1/2" w x 1/2" h ledge and glue the lexan down that way it sits flush. Dunno for sure but I will experiment and see what I like best.

My biggest concern is cutting the lexan. Should I use a circular saw or my table saw? Fine tooth blade, plastic blade? They have plastic non-melting blades but I'm not investing the money for one of those blades for 3 or 4 cuts. What do you all use?
