where should they point?

hi guys i hope you can help me? what do you guys think is the best direction for my application.

anyways i am building new pillars for my 3 way component. i am putting the mids and tweets on the dash and the midbass on the stock door location.

here is my question... what do you guys think is the best speaker direction...

A) left and right speakers pointing towards the same side.

B) left side pointing towards right passenger and right speaker pointing towards the driver on the left side.

C) left and right sides pointing in between the passenger and driver. (a bit upwards just over the heads where the dome light would be but not as high)

hope you guys can help me thanks

well i just went three way and even tho my whole setup is in the kicks.. i tried like every direction and ive come to the conclusion

angle everything towads you... i have my driver side mid/tweet pointing basically straight back and the passenger one towards my right ear...

granted it will only sound optimum to your seat.. but you paid the money so make it sound great to you instead of good to both people... if you aim them crossing, then whats the point in going three way... you can basically accmplish the same thing with a 2 way setup...

the main thing you get with going three way is the ability to aim your speakers better... unless you have dedicated EQ's to each speaker.. its hard to find a balance (unless you sit in the center of the car) if you cross them because the speaker further from you have more time to develop and spread out more.. while the one closest to you.. will just kinda beam right past you

but personal taste also comes into play, and the speakers themsleves... you might not like the way i set it up... try testing various locations out before you make any final decisions

ok thanks for the input! but i forgot to mention that i am using a rockford 3sixty.2. so it has time align and eq and all that stuff. i want to make as much use of that as well.

its still useful even if you put them on axis, esp with the peaks/dips youll get in a car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i love a good EQ

actualy i rather have decent speakers with a good EQ, then really good speakers with none

your right! i actualy had an audio control four.1 before the rockford. but it got old and developed a ground after awile. (what i mean by awhile is 7 years!) so i had to run my speakers strait from the headunit and it sucked. i noticed my ears started to hurt and fatigue when i listened to it loud. that never happened with my audio control! makes such a big difference! this is my problem with doing what your suggesting. i want to join iasca street. the judges listent to the car from both seats so it has to work well from both sides

Then you aren't going to want to mount your mids on the dash.

The only way to make that really work well is to use time alignment, which is going to inherently create a 1-seat car.

Make a baffle, temporarily attach it to the car with something like plumbers straps and wrap the rear of the speaker in a towel. Experiment from there. It's going to be speaker and vehicle dependent.

Also...pics of said car with a 30" deep dash?

Dirtidan, just because everyone is doing doesn't mean it's always the best. Etac hits it dead on. I have also found that the front staging seams off (not horizontal) when you move to far away from the mid-bass. Take your time and do what sounds good for you.
