Where is this alt noise coming from?

I just put everything back in, except I added a dvd player, so now my dash has soo many wires back there. I never had any noise before, and I know it is coming through the RCAs. It comes through all 3 sets. Could it be something came loose back behind the dash, or are all wires adding to this?

It was fine before, now its not.

Havent checked. It might be. Its sooo crowded back there. Civic dashes arent big to begin with.

make sure its grounded good, a poor ground can cause noise, also is it alternator whine or does it do it when the cars off too ??

No ground are fine. Re did all of them, very low resistance. Its definatley alt whine. It changes with engine rpm. Not when car is off.

was your HU powered up when you disconnected the wires?

Pio's need to be unpowered while you work on your system

sometimes they have some BS internal GND that goes bad when

wires are moved while powered up

video pieces (like your DVD players) are noisy. You said you "checked" all the grounds. What does that mean? here is the checklist I typically go through when trouble shooting noise......

Head unit (all sources) Grounded at the same spot the amps are grounded ... Yes you have to run a new cable

Amps. All grounded to the same spot?

Is the *ONE* ground location clean? Free of paint and corrosion?

How big is the battery to chassis ground cable? Is it bigger than any other power/ground wire in the car? It should be...

Are your RCA's run as far as possible away from the power wires?

You said there was noise, and now there's not? It's your deck, just get it serviced. It happened to me too, Pioneers are known for bad internal gorunds.

Yes I already did all the above for the grounds.

I think its hte dvd player, because it was fine without it for noise, or metal could be touching. I couldnt look at it today, Ill do it tm.

I pulled the hu out for a few weeks, then put it back in w/ dvd player. Changed nothing else.

i just installed my dvd player and i got the same problem, but its only when the dvd player is playing not the cd player, but i cant hear it over the music

I cant hear it over the music, only when the volume is really low, because its coming throufh the non-fading (sub) preouts. I bet its the dvd. Is there anything I could do for shielding?
