Hey... im keeping my eyes open for a new car.

Most likely a sport compact. main reason i'm straying away from trucks is lo mpg.

price range will probably be under 6k but im willing to work on the car and fix it up.

so my questions are:

1. Where is a good place to look? ( ive already checked camera ads and autotrader.com )

2. What type of car would be easy to upgrade performance wise ( not a fan of civics )

3. What is a good car for stereo equipment ex: large trunk space to work with for subs and all?

Deffinatlely looking to do engine upgrades but no body kits with flames and shit

If it helps I live in CA

1. Where is a good place to look? ( ive already checked camera ads and autotrader.com ).

-Craigslist is always my favorite for cars. Also try cars.com and any vehicle specific boards (i.e. if you want a mustang http://www.corral.net)

2. What type of car would be easy to upgrade performance wise ( not a fan of civics ).

-Depends what you want. For 6k you can grab a good domestic LT1 or 5.0/4.6 Mustang. If you want an import I always lean towards DSM cars because theyre alot faster stock than most imports. http://www.dsmtrader.com

3. What is a good car for stereo equipment ex: large trunk space to work with for subs and all?

-Large trunks and sports cars dont mix. If you want a sport compact and want to get loud, get a hatchback. Not alot of room, but a pair of 10's in a hatch will ****in bang.

subaru impreza 2.5 wrx wagon? idk just tagging onto the subaru idea

haha yeah the mustangs sound nice but idk if i can afford gas in a 4.0 liter + engine.

right now my car is a 1991 volvo 940 turbo:naughty: with a 2.3L engine.. its a heavy car so its not that fun to drive but i can still feel the turbo. Volvo's got big trunks but i wanna change to something differant..

i will look into some of those other places you guys listed..

If i ever do a new substage. Im thinking for my next sub stage ill try 2x 12's ported. possibly the HDC12's ?

I know weight and speed don't mix but im gonna try my best to do what i can. I was thinking about getting a high milage car and just doing a motor/****** swap but i may be in over my head :s

Some cars that have caught my eye that are in the price range-

-Honda prelude 96-96 model

-Bmw 325 or 5 something those were also 96-97

-VW jetta not sure what year but not the very old ones.

-Nissan 300zx 91-93 models

-Mitsubishi 3000 gt's

-chevy camaro (lots of them in my area... i think there construction is weak and my gf thinks there ugly )

-ford mustang ( again lots of them but they just seem like to common and cheap)

i'll add others if i remember them

-Honda prelude 96-96 model

*very little room to work with in trunk

-Bmw 325 or 5 something those were also 96-97

*By far the worst choice for a car audio buff. Friend has a 325i with 2 12" CVRs and 1000 watts and it sounds like one 8 or less. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

-VW jetta not sure what year but not the very old ones.

*No experience

-Nissan 300zx 91-93 models

*Same

-Mitsubishi 3000 gt's

*Hatch, but again very little room to work with

-chevy camaro

*Descent room for subs if you know your way around box building. Read on ehre somewhere that someone got a 5cu box in the hatch. Def. your best chance at getting loud. And please tell me what g/f thinks a ttop camaro is ugly?

-ford mustang

*If you get an older 5.0 the hatches will get loud as hell. The new body style makes it more of a challenge w/ a lack of room and being a trunk car
