Systems Engineer for Verizons Large Systems/Automation support. However, I recently applied as a System Admin for my counties 911 systems, so we'll see where that goes..

Hmm, my brother is studying to become a Systems Engineer, but he always says he has no idea what a Systems Engineer does lol. So my question, what exactly do you do?

Wow, I pretty much took almost an identical career path as you. I did the Cutco knives thing until I realized it was a big scam. Then I did valet for like 2 years which I hated because of the weather and the dumb people. Now I'm a Software Developer for a local company, best job I've had yet.

after about 5 - 6 years, depending on who Im working for (the state or the Cherokee nation) I could be making well over 70k/year.. in Oklahoma thats pretty **** decent money

also, making 60k/year in San Diego is probably less than making 40k/year here, proportionately anyways

not to jack your thread but none of you actually know this but my first cousin is leann rimes and i could probably convince her to give me a cool job while shes on tour all over the world in the future. and i was wondering if anybody would have an idea what a person could make setting up equipment for concerts and sh!t like that.

I'm a transporter at a local hospital around here. Have been for 2 years now. I currently make $10 an hour which isn't bad for around here. I was wanting to get into the x-ray program(to eventually specialize in ct/ultrasound) but after seeing how difficult it is to actually make the grades, get a good grade on the exam, get an interview, pass the interview, be one of the 20 people accepted I've come to the conclusion I probably won't make it.
I might just go back to IT, I have 44 hours in that.

I'm in nearly the exact same situation right now.

I'm a transporter at a hospital, and am trying to decide what I want to do now...

Decent pay, low stress, people oriented, cool co-workers, cheap great benefits.

I have about 72 credit hours towards EE... who knows what I want to pursue.

yeah but i own a place worth a 1/2 a mill and about to close on a 200k rental property so my property value although not doing great right now but we know sunny ca will make it up will easily eclipse your 10k extra a year,being a letter carrier in daygo is great ,think about it i carry paper for 60k a year which is not bad i.m.o,oh and talking 5-6 years from now i'm sure i will be at 70k but my property(both places may be worth over 1 mill.

but I think Id rather be happy, and make enough money than have a boring job delivering mail, Ive always wanted to do child welfare and plan on doing so, having the masters will increase my pay and job prospects.. good for you, you make 60k /year in san diego.. and you own a house .. awesome.. you win, I guess thats what you're looking for.. I dont give a shit what materials I have, so long as my family and I are comfortable (which we are) and as happy as possible (just fyi, my wife's a paramedic and about to be an RN, so money isnt an issue really) then my mission in life is accomplished
