Where do you mount your amps?

if you try? like what... 30hz tones for 45 minutes?

i mean come on. for normal daily application mounting them any way unless in a confined non-ventilated area (like the tire well under a box) is irreverent.

italyn, thats a nice setup, are you using that to power you RL-i also? what car is that, and where did you have your box?
Yes, the rear two channels of that PPI bridge for a 300RMS output at 4 ohms that I had planned to run my RL-i8 off. Its in a Lexus IS300 trunk.

I wouldn't mount my amps sideways. They are supposed to be mounted flat. They have heatsinks inside and by mounting them sideways the heat would have to travel through the whole heatsink. Just my opinion.
I'm not sure if you can see in the pic but the back seat has whats called a "ski pass" which is a pass through point where the center armrest folds down for access to the trunk. Since I took out the ski pass there is a nice little hole that the amp is mounted over giving my amp some nice air conditioning flow to it on hot days:naughty:

Also, I have rubber stoppers between the bottom of the amp and the seat backing so its EXTREMELY secure but all the shock from the car moving is absorbed by the rubber. The stoppers i used were perfect for job and can be found at lowes.

I've thought of everything I assure you...

when i had my custom system it looked like this kx 2500 under and kx 650.4 on top

and now for temp. until the new year when i can get back to it. looks like this and the 650.4 is behind the back of the seat mounted on a board and screwed to the seat frame

lol

Mine is under my drivers seat, and its sideways. I don't care about anyone being in the backseat because my seats are folded down 100% of the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i have a long commute... and i like music

if i drive all 6 channels for over an hr (and hard) i can overheat it

amp is a jbl 755.6- i'm talking about my audi btw for those that know it

dont be ignorant.
you can mount your amp upside down and it wouldnt make a difference. unless your amp heats like a freggin skillet - the extra 1 or 2 degrees wont make any difference at all.
Ignorant huh? I stated a fact. Your amps will run warmer if mounted sideways. If I'm mistaken how heatsinks work please correct me. I never said it would damage them although it probably will shorten the lifespan. Oh and I've had numerous amps that run hot.
