Where do I hook up the amp remote wire(power on off)

yup just make sure if you go straight to a fuse, that the fuse you use is switched. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Power antenae lead ( #5 ) will work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
If he uses the power antenna lead then his amp will only turn on when he's listening to the radio. Noobs are always posting that their amps only work with the radio not with a cd and it's because they accidentally hooked the REM to the power ant.

crap your right lol I forgot in newer cars the antennae goes down when you switch sources. Freaking modern chit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Haha, no biggie. I think his best bet would be to wire a simple relay to the ignition wire under the dash, or some fuse in the fuse box that only has power when the car is on (just take your meter and start probing).

BTW, is that an aftermarket radio? What aftermarket radio doesn't have a remote turn on output these days?

That picture is an aftermarket wiring harness. Your right though, what aftermarket head unit doesn't have a turn on lead now a days. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i'm not sure that head unit has a true remote turn on. the OP needs to get out his volt meter and test Pin #5 to verify if it is on with other sources - assuming it's not just AM/FM. that radio looks very basic, and old.

what make/model is it?

if you'd have a true remote turn-on and pin #5 loses voltage when switching to other sources - you either need a LOC with auto-turn on (you obviously need a LOC anyway) or you can get a switched ignition +12V from the radio ignition wire - with a 1A fuse and a toggle switch on the dash. the toggle switch is to turn the amp off when the radio is off while the car is on.

remember -

amp on last, amp off first.
