As far as a caraudio resource, this site has plenty of potential. It just doesn't have the management it needs. BC can come in here all day and say he's doing things day by day, but i'd rather see results instead of hollow talk, and excuses. Its nothing we haven't heard from Goob a million times before. Nobody went to these other sites for the hell of it. When we left we had at least half the mod staff as our members. We didn't leave because we couldn't be big enough jackasses here. We left because it was frustrating to see this place not living to its potential, to have a site that constantly goes down, to have no communication with the guy who was supposed to be providing direction and a great user experience... blah.
The only valid point against this site Ive seen you or any other CT fan pose is the server issues. Ive said the same thing. I was saying 'fix the server issues first' the very first day these most recent aesthetic changes were implemented a couple weeks ago. You allude to other problems based on Goob's lack of presence here, but dont give a single example. Bots cant be controlled because the site admin isnt around to ban IP's and mods cant do it? I find it pretty easy to avoid the bot threads, as annoying as their presence may be. And Im sure it doesnt help the server problems any having them here taking up bandwidth, but this site has had the same server problems since long before the bot issue became anything significant. So that's it? That's why CT was made, because you cant stand to look past the viagra and chinese shoe threads? Or because the site is down regularly for a few hours in the middle of the night?
I agree its the people, talking about the subject (car audio), that make this site great. I disagree its a small portion of the people. As much as I appreciate you considering me one of those people, if I left tomorrow, this site would still thrive. As it continues to do so even with several of the people you mention (or are thinking about) not coming here any more, or coming here less. If one person, or even a small group of people, start thinking they make or break this site, they are just fooling themselves (like MoT).
This debate seems to have two heads. Some people like yourself discuss the car audio resource aspect of it, others talk about the more entertainment aspect of it (deerhunt painting himself black etc). CT is, self appointly, not a car audio resource. And the car audio population of this site dwarfs CT, so I dont find that a valid argument. The entertainment aspect... that is what CT is all about. If you, or anyone else here or there, finds more entertainment there than here on the t-dome, awesome. I dont think this site revolves around the t-dome, as the forums name/url and population numbers show. If it makes a CT member happy to know/think CT has a bigger population than the t-dome here (which I dont know, doesnt matter to me either way), great. Live and let live. As Ive said before, Im not running over to CT to bash that forum, its 'point', or its members. But many CT guys come here and do that very thing. But they are also the first ones to get pissy if anything even remotely negative is said about CT. If you (anyone, not you specifically eugenics) are happy at CT, great, go be happy there. But if you come here to validate your decision to switch forums by bashing this site or its members and their different choice, dont expect us to fall over ourselves agreeing with you. If CT is such a great entertainment site, it should be able to thrive on its own, and not require coming here to recruit new members by bashing this site.
