When is a ground loop sound not a ground loop?

True problem was explained by my post....the fact is that the problem was identified, but he couldnt just pop over to best buy and buy another head unit just to get rid of his noise, some people cant afford to do that right away - those bandaids you speak unhighly of will work for now just fine.

i respectfully disagree with you on this one-

a toroid choke or gli is NEVER the proper way to isolate noise in a system. troubleshooting is.

guys what do you mean by grounding the outer barrel? I am having a very big problem right now (see my thread in installation/wiring). Thing is I am clueless hen it comes to audio installation. Can someone pelase explain how to ground these RCA barrels coming out of the pioneer? Do I have to splice into the wire itself or just wrap it around the gold part of the rca connector? How do I get the wire to stay there though? I would appreciate any help. Thanks guys.

well it is once you have figured out that it isn't your headunit's grounding point but inside the headunit itself. i have a pioneer 860 and i have did the rca barrel trick and it went away and now it is back even with the rca sheild grounded. nonthing was changed in the system but amps and i have tried another headunit and the noise went away.

so the solution to this problem was a very cheap pyrimid noise suppressor, it cuts som of the lows but this is my front set of speakers any way so i don't miss it that much, not enought to go throw dow 400 on a radio right now
