when inverting subs....

when inverting 1 of 2 subs, i know that you need to reverse the polarity of one to keep it in phase with the other (normal) mounted sub. however, my question is, when inverting 2 subs, do i need to reverse the polarity on both?

also, i am planning on flush-mounting the inverted subs. so i will make a trim ring so that the entire perimeter of the subs is enclosed in the ring. but, do i simply use the same cut-out hole?

lastly, is there any sort of gasket or sealant that i should/need to use?

thanks for all help

Relative phase of the subs to the rest of the speakers should always be reversed when setting up the system, to find out which way sounds best.

so are you suggesting that i try both ways? both with regular polarity and reversing the polarity (of both)

Yes exactly. You should do this with a new system even when the subs are not inverted. Many sub amps have a phase reverse switch for making this a/b sound comparison easier.

ok, thats one problem solved, thanks.

what type of gasket/sealant should i use?

the foam kind you can get at home depot for window seals.

sticky on one side squishy foam on the other. cheap. comes in rolls like 1\4" to 3\4" wide. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have noticed this by switching phase on my unit. Minutely noticeable, but I can still differentiate.
