As always you have to research, but even then it's not enough. I have seen a couple threads on Matrixx Dude and I know he had a good rep.

So I guess we are stuck with don't put more cash into a deal than you can comfortably risk losing. It sucks.

I still think the vast majority of bad deals involve people who are fairly unknown.
