i built a box for two 18" Fi BLs from a design i got from another member on another forum. that forum has been way slow lately so ill try it here...

subs and port are both facing up and top is double baffle if anyone needs to know.

the TOTAL deminsions of the box are 42.5" wide x 25" tall x 28" deep. the port is 32" across the top and 5" wide. it goes 13 inches TOTAL into the box.

all i want to know is what the box is tuned to because it sounds horrible compared to my current box. the box makes the subs seem like they are almost free-airing. no lows, no highs really either, no nothing... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

thanks...

i actually have alot of pics of the box if anyone needs them but i have not uploaded them into my imageshack yet and im at work...

Box is about 13.5 cubes after subs and port.

It's tuned around 36hz with 160sq.in. of port area.

It looks like a good design to me, not sure what the problem is.

I've ran a 18" BTL in 6.8cubes at 32hz with a 100sq.in. of port and it was crazy loud and sounded great. At first it didnt hit the lows that welll, but once it got broken it it hit them with some authority. Check it out in my sig //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

hmmm, well, the guy told me it was tuned to around 35hz.

it dont seem like it.

they are well broken in from my other box over a period of about 3 months.

they should have pounded in that box but they blew. seriously, like almost freeairing. i could have sat there all day playing songs and probably not found one that could make anything on my vehicle flex, at all. it was weird.

the other box kicks ***. i dont really know what it is tuned to. it is a t-line designed by pete @ TTB and built by me. it hits lows way hard and the higher freq. really shows off their spl side...

here are some pics...

new box that blows.

compared to the t-line, notice the port shoots out the side (at the passenger side wheelwell, no its not blocked or muffled at all).

not only is the t-line an absolute beast of a box, it is small, small enough to chill below my window line in my jeep GC...

my backseat passengers complain alot... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks for the help though, ill just keep my little box, haha...

Dang, that sucks. I actually plan on making a box just like your new one that you dont like. Do you any sketchup pics of the T-Line box made by TTB?

Here is the box that I plan to make this weekend. It's 16cubes tuned to 32hz with 213sq.in. of port area. The subs and port will both fire forwards and it will be walled off from the rear hatch area...

Hopefully I have better luck then you do.

yes, i still have the TTB design, hit me up at tremor1127 @ yahoo.com and i will reply with them...

the wall looks like it could be awesome. the low tuning should do very nice. good luck...

the box only fits like that unless i put my seats down. i really dont think there would be much of a difference. it was really weak. the t-line is many times louder, multiplied by 50, than this other box.

and the t-line deminsions are, i believe, 40wide x 19 tall x 25 deep. none of those numbers are off by more than 1", if they even are.

kinda OT, but Tremor, where in Tx are ya? I've got a couple of DD 9917c's that would like that box.

And I'm sure you triple checked the wiring? I can't imagine it sounding that bad...I've done the out of phase wiring thing and the subs move quite a bit w/very little output.

Ya I hope it was just a problem, hopefully I dont have bad luck, it's got to work out for me, but who knows. Mayb with mine being angled on the top back side that will help break up any standing waves in the box.

im in odessa. i think the box is sold locally here, though. but anyone that has a vehicle to haul it off can have it for pretty cheap...

the wires may have been out of phase, i have a seperate terminal for each voice coil on my box and its usually easy, simply following the wiring wizard diagrams like that.

i burnt my amp for them up 2 days ago anyways so i cant play them for a little bit. i already sent the amp off for repair... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif
