Ah. I guessed that, but I didn't realize it was an acronym.

It means basically, "I've said my bit, and this thread no longer merits my participation."

Or, "This thread never merited my participation," if it is used without any other comment.

The use of the / indicator is reminiscent of the close of a command... sort of how people will say [rant] .... [/rant]

Bump is actually not an acronym..

it means "Bump it up to the top" of the post list back from page 2...

and

/thread = end thread .. end of thread.. etc.. as in script/code
