i would do 8 but 12 is alright. i wouldnt do 16. but thats just me.

It goes on wire length, as long as your under 20 feet 12g 14 at the smallest would work. Wire (speaker) is so cheap I would do 12.

16 would actually work on a short run. I would use 12 or 14 at the minimum if it was mine.
