Whats the right comp for me!? :)

noone can tell you that, it's what sounds good to you. i've never heard the crystals, but i like my alumapros which use a rainbow silk tweet for what thats worth.

I've heard both and neither set will disappoint you. The Crystals have a more lively sound while the Rainbows are a bit more laid back. It comes down to personal preference. The crystals do handle a ton of power though and need at least 150 a side to get it to its potential.

Not this again....ugh.

The Crystals will be fine running off any amount of power you can afford to give them. They have a relatively high sensitivity, ~90db, I think, so they should get plenty loud off little power.

Giving them "150 a side" doesn't mean anything if you dial the gains all the way down. You could give them a 1000x2 amp, and if you dial the gains all the way down, it's just as well as giving them 5x2. The number is arbitrary, and the speakers are made to produce 90db at ONE WATT at one meter. Even 50 watts will be plenty. Try to get them close to their RMS, no reason and no gain in exceeding that.

This goes for all speakers.

First hand experience>what's written on paper.

Crystals sound OK with 50 watts, you will be disappointed. Now put 150-200 a side on the same set and they start to shine. Im sure others who have actually ran the Crystals know what I mean. There a great set that truly shines when you give them the juice. I've never used the rainbows but have heard them in numerous installs. Like I said before, either set will be good, just based on persona preference.

Dont really have a way to listen to either one. And I have yet to buy an amp for them so, I guess whatev... only wanting to spend 250 or so on the amp...

Lively sound, more laid back? Is the crystal more punchy or something?

The silk-dome Crystals that I've used have been very, very smooth. Good detail, however. Great stuff for the money. Can't speak for the SSCS set, because I've never used this particular set, but I understand that they're smooth for a hard dome and have an aggressive mid.

Experience lies. If it can't be measured, it doesn't exist.

Experience speaks for itself. I rather have sum1 with 25 years experience working on my car than some1 with 0 years experience and some kind of cert/degree. Your speaking from what you;ve heard....Im speaking for what I witnessed. They need power....end of the story.

You're assuming a lot of things there...I'll leave it at that.

Getting off topic there...The crystals are a little britter than the Bows but the SLCs are a little more well rouded. They have a tight kick in the mid than the Crystals and can handle just as much power. I have given a set 200 watts respectively. But again, this is dialed in perfectly. Needless to say, they are both good candidates for what you looking for. They questions come down to, what type of sound are you looking for? What kind of power do you want to push them with? How strict are you on your budget? What type of install will these be in, kicks or doors? Sound deadening?

Theyll be in doors... Im a tad leaniant on budget, Ill probbly do some deadening.

If I was to get these components, would i need to get another pair for the rear?
