Whats the prices of MDF wood?

did anyone think that MDF loss weight? just throwing it out there, my old box (1.5cubes) weighs pretty heavy, compared to my current 2.5 cubes, maybe its just me

ONE: Get Holly Hill, not Georgia Pacific MDF. Holly Hill is brown in color and is much better stuff.

TWO: Go to a distributor to get the sheets. You can buy "damaged" pieces that barely have a scratch on them for $5.00 each. That was 5/8, 3/4 or 1" sheets. If you know someone there, they take a hammer to the corner of a perfect piece, put a slight ding in it and it's $5.00 also. That's a technique called networking.

HDF is by definition more dense and thus heavier than MDF. If you want light and strong, you want birch plywood.
That and the 1.5" and thicker crap does not do well with a router for rounding. They "felt up" instead of stay solid. The thicker pieces don't have near the amount of glue. The Holly Hill HDF is $5.00 more per sheet than the MDF, but in comparison....their MDF IS HDF of another company's.

Note what Helotaxi said: If you want light and strong, you want birch plywood. This is what pro speaker cabinet manufacturers use. They must use it for a reason.

Check out http://www.oapaudio.com, they make the systems for iMAX theatres and many more.

Good BB ply will cost you around 60 bucks a sheet.

I just bought 2 1/2" and 1 3/4" sheets also. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I know in Europe, they have some Birch that is retarded thick. I'm sure that 200 different competitors use it, but the one I know of is the SPL Dynamics Volvo. The pieces inside the box were like 2.5" thick of some Birch Plywood sandwiched by kevlar layers, burgundy in color.

How much is 1/2" Birch?

Was hoping to build a new box for my l7's from 1/2" birch, with a 1" speaker baffle.......

Is that also $60?
