What's the point?

I just noticed today, while i was taking all my door speakers out for when my baffles get here (any minute....) that my kenwood x-overs have biwire capability.

I know this is to do an active x-over setup, but i don't understand the point of still using the passive x-over inline with an active setup?

I would think you'd just hook up your tweeter channel to your tweeter, hook up your woofer channel to your woofer, and be done.

Maybe i'm missing something.

Well if you are using the passives, then it's not active.

There are some benefits to biamping and biwiring, but for the normal guy who is just going to drop and play, then not really.

Also, some experts have claimed there is some advantage to bi-wiring... I'm just not sure it would be audible. But then again, zip-cord is cheap!
