What's the Optimal Center Frequency for Treble?!??!

Okay, I've been tweaking my Apline deck (1200 watt amp, two 12" Kicker Comp Subs) to sound as "optimal" as possible for rap, hip-hop, industrial, electro, and DJ genres: I produce music in these genres and home speakers just don't make the final cut for evaluation, so I use my car.

Here's my question: What is the optimal treble frequency for these digital/beat-driven types of music? I seem to notice a difference between 10.0 and 12.5, but I *just* can't tell what it is. 12.5 seems more tingy/high, and 10.0 seems more mid-driven, but for the life of me I can't make up my mind.

Suggestions?

BTW, my bass is set at a center of 60 with a q-level of 1, and there are no mid-range adjustment options on my deck.

Thanks, and I hope to be posting here more often.

I like to leave my EQ flat, but the Alpline deck requires that you pick one *center* frequency, the choice from 7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15

again, I too like the most true-to-the-album sound, so I like to leave stuff flat, but I'm still stuck between choosing a center EQ. 7.5 sounds too mid-y, and 15 is too tingy.

Didn't know if there was a standard

a 2 band eq eaither takes the 'tingy' sound out, or puts it in. thats all it can do my friend.

because when you pull a higher frequency down, you notice all the other frequencies that are too harsh.

just dont play the song as loud. thats your best form of attenuation aside from like 12 band graphic eq or so.

Thanks a shitton for all the replies, btw! You guys are **** cool for car-audio people.

If you leave it flat, the center freq doesn't matter. No boost/cut at 7.5k is the same as no boost/cut at 15k.
If you always leave it flat, turn on the "Defeat" function and the EQ circuit is bypassed all together.
That's just it. I leave it at a zero boost, but the sound *does* change depending on the center frequency. This could be because I'm running two of my four amp channels as high-outs to my back speakers (front directly from deck, as they're tiny) and the treble "center" frequency seems to affect the ampage. Either way, it's an option even when defeat is on and it's flat at zero.

Thanks for the advice though. You guys are mad cool.
