What's the most my battery/alternator can handle?

I have a 2001 pontiac grand prix

800 amps battery

105 amps alternator

75 rms 4 channel amp

I also have a 250 rms monoblock amp

I recently burnt out a 400 rms sub (I know the sub probably burnt out because it wasn't matched with the amp, but I got it used, for free and it lasted a couple years.)

So I was thinking about upgrading the amp to match a more powerful sub, but how much can my electrical system handle?

And how much audible difference would there be between a 250 rms sub (if I stuck with the amp I already have) and a 500 rms sub (or however high I can go).

I don't really want to invest in a high output alternator because this is my first car and it's a bit of a beater.

To get the most out of whatever sub you have go CUSTOM PORTED. A double im rms made a big difference for me when i went from 250 to 400. Im sure your system can be comfortable with little dimming with an 800w sub amp

Electrical uphrades are really only needed once you go an average of about 1200rms and up. Im pushing about 1500 rms total and have completely stock everything not even big 3. My cars a 06 mazda 6

I wouldn't give it much thought until you get to around 1kw of amp power.

I put an AP10001d with a Diamond d615 in my nephew's GP, same year I think. He was 16 at the time, so blasting it wherever he went. Never had any electrical problems. It dimmed though, which i expected.

i decided to upgrade!

rockford 750w rms @ 1ohm amp

rockford 600w rms @ 1ohm ported 12 inch with the enclosure to match
