What's the disadvantages when running dual alts?

I have quad alternators and have no issues with the engine loading down while playing my system. I don't know what his problem is.

I have 370, 320, and 300 amp HO alternators, plus a stock alt. Only time my engine got loaded down was when I load tested my alternators with carbon plates at idle.


I loaded it down HARD though. Even with three HO alts and the battery bank in the back hooked up, I dropped to 9v.......... Then and only then my engine almost stalled (but it didn't :fyi: )

you're not pulling nearly as much out of those alternators imo, i guess its possible mine are inefficient but i doubt it. it does in fact load the engine down. power isnt free, your computer may be able to deal with it better than mine i dunno

Yea when my bass drops it bogges down. I can drop 500rpm.

There is the possibility that I wasn't pulling a ton of amperage with the TFE. It was only one amp, and there were three high output alternators to share the load.

I idle at 600-750, so dropping 500 RPM would kill the engine!
