whats the difference?

sorry for the newbie question but, i was looking through the stickies and i saw amp setting and gain setting tutorials. what are the differences in the two?

i think amp settings might refer to high pass filter, low pass filter, crossovers, and subsonic filter. While gain is used to match the voltage of the HU going to the amp to get the right amount of power from the amp?
