Whats the difference between 5x7 and 6x8's?

Is there even a difference or what?

Im actually looking at some Rainbow SLC 5x7's to fit into the factory 6x8 locations and alot of websites group the two sizes in the same categorey.

Yes, an inch but would that really affect the mounting enough to disable the installation of a 5x7 speaker in a 6x8 location?
