Just kinda wondered why someone would have 2 or even 3 of one size speaker when they could just get 1 of a bigger size. I assume one or the other will either play louder or sound better...

To optimize enclosure airspace.

I.E. If you dont have quite enought airspace for an 18" and going with a 15" would make the enclosure a bit larger, then 2 12's would work better. But that also includes the level of subwoofer as well.
