What's the best way to patch 4 awg together?

I just stripped about an inch's worth on each side, twisted them around each other and wrapped them around with almost an entire roll's worth of electrical tape. It's ghetto as **** but I havnt had a problem with it since I installed it 6 months ago.

why not use the fuse holder? you are using an inline fuse holder within 18 inch's of the battery correct? seems like a total no brainer to spend 10 bucks on the most important (saftey wise) wire in your car instead of having it catch your car on fire...

Yes of course...6" actually. A fuse holder doesn't exactly fit in the side rails of my car though...that's the only issure with doing it that way. Oh and I keep a fire extinguisher in the the unlikely event of a carbeque //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

oh ok good...I didn't think you were that stupid...hmm maybe you could zip tie it to something...I ran some 1/0 a few weeks ago and the fuse holder was like the size of a cinder block...had a hard time finding room for it...ended up resting it sort of on the edge battery but also zip tied to the air intake and like ten other places....good luck.

Those work good, also terminals and a nut and bolt, make sure to have a lock washer too.

That's "EXACTLY" what I would Do......And "Before" you do this Splice Connector,I would take the connector with you and get yourself some "Black or Red Dual Wall Adhesive Lined Shrink Tubing! You'll want to get enough to go at least 1" on either side of the connector. Use a Heat Gun or Blow Torch to heat the tubing all the way around the piece, until the sealant starts to come out both sides of the shrink tube.......just a little bit to know that it has been activated.

DO NOT get close with a Blow Torch.

Use the"Sealant" type of Tubing....... not regular tubing, especially if it's exposed to the Elements.

And the sealant of the shrink Tubing will help prevent the set screws from backing out which can happen through vibration...and THUMP-//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sorry for the Long Reply.......Hope you consider. It will work and work good.
