So I have several lengths of 4 awg and I want to patch a 6' cable with a 10' cable so I don't have to buy a new one. What's a nifty way to do this??
I did think of that but I would rather not spend $10 on fuse holder just for that. How about using about a 1" piece of 1/4" copper plumbing, crimping it, heat shrinking it, and taping it off really well??The best (most secure) method that I can think of would be to incorporate an inline fuse holder in the cable path. Safe, secure, no need to worry about a splice coming apart, etc etc //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Good idea thanks....anyone else?I recommend stripping back a sizeable length on each side... say a little over an inch. Meet the ends, and braid them together. Then I usually use an Acetylene Torch, and solder the hell out of it. I will usually use heat shrink tubing over it after I'm done... and then also E-tape the hell out of it...

Because you can join the 2 wires together for under $5.I recommend buying a 16' piece of wire.
Why go thru all that for something you can replace for under $20?
pwer transfer is probably good but i'm sure their is at least a small voltage drop across the connection.i spliced using a big *** wire nut on some 8 gauge then E taped the shit outta it so that i knew for a fact that it wouldnt come undone... power transer and everything is fine and its cheap 30 cents....
good idea if you already have the torch, if not then it will cost $20 for the torch kit, which is what a 16' piece of 4ga will cost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifI recommend stripping back a sizeable length on each side... say a little over an inch.
