What's the best GPS tracking system for your car??

I am going with TomTom and the Pioneer Avic-Z1 on this

Get a Portable! If you have a Lap-Top get that one! It is $120 and you get the huge display size of the Lap-Top. I just bought a Garmin unit for $387 but don't have a personal Lap-Top or I would have opted for the $120 one.

It's very inconvenient to carry around a laptop everytime you want to use GPS. Then you need a place to put it and it will probably slide around in the car and be at a weird angle. For standalone, I heard the Garmins were good.

I've thought for a while about assembling a DIY tracking system - one could be assembled for around $500 that would be trackable on any internet-connected computer.

But I can't justify that kind of money for something that's basically a toy with no practical use other than to make squiggly lines on maps and the ability to say where my vehicle is within 30 feet.

This is the result of what I did with a friend's install...he's got his interval set pretty fast, so every 15 minutes or so the tracker pings the network with a new GPS packet.

You can also track neaby stations and even send them text messages if you have a keyboard handy...

i wish i know the one hogan has his is live tracking that's the one i want
