Use the web browser to go to TERMLAB or SPL-Labs website and buy a real meter. Nothing else will be anything close to accurate.

Cellphone apps for SPL are useless. Try finding a local shop that will let you meter your car with a TermLab

I was able to borrow a decibel meter from my high school physics teacher, got 108 dB in the cab of my old car with 2 kickers in a prefab box on 600W RMS and 117 at the port. Disappointing. Maybe look into your local high school?

I think i remember finding a few android ones that had some calculators and such, nothing too special

None. Especially with the internal mics.

I use the AudioTools app and the Dayton iMM-6 mic, it's awesome and has a lot of functionality, but it's only good up to about 127dB, so SPL testing isn't in it's realm. And this is the best you're going to get

As has been said, buy a real meter if you want anything close to accurate results.

Actually thinking about it, are there any cheap mics that work for simply hooking up, running some pink noise and tuning my gains / eq for a flat SQ?
