I have a Phoenix Gold Titanium Elite 12" powered by a PG Xenon 1200.1 amp. I just put the system in my car and while playing some music today I smelled something. It's coming from the port of my box im pretty sure, but the sub performance hasn't changed and still sounds really good and I can't hear any weird noises. The box is one I built awhile back but now just using it for the 1st time, do they make weird smells for awhile? The sub surround felt warm but nothing out of the ordinary, does anyone know if im hurting my sub or what?

Has your sub eaten anything out of the ordinary lately? Beans, ranch dressing, etc?

it doesnt have to be bottoming out to burn a voice coil. I seen someone with pioneer subs run them all day at a SPL comp and they smelled like straight coil the whole time, lasted a good 5 months then they finally just locked up

Meh i guess if it goes I can recone it with some sexy parts, can I use non Phoenix Gold parts in a recone, also does the SPL cone sound like ***?

did you just do it by ear or with a DMM?
