whats so special about kinetic batts?

AGM > Lead acid
Wrong. AGM=Lead Acid

What you meant to say was this:

AGM > Flooded

All AGM batteries are lead acid batteries. Some brands confusingly call their AGMs dry cells, but they are really starved electrolyte lead acid batteries. If they are AGM, they are most likely vented sealed lead acid batteries as well (VSLA).

Why some AGM batteries are more expensive than others is the real question here. The amount of lead in a battery should be directly proportional to the price. The lead in a battery is the most expensive component. The thicker the plates, the more expensive the battery is to make. The thinner the plates, the cheaper.

Also, the thicker the plates, the longer lifespan the battery will have under proper use. The thinner the plates, the less deep cycles you can perform on that battery. Thicker plates equal higher cost to make.

Thin plate batteries will give higher burst power, but for a shorter period of time, and will also have a shorter lifespan because of the thin plates. Thick plate batteries will give less burst power, but will be able to sustain that peak power output for a longer time, and they will also have a longer lifespan.

Take all of these into consideration when buying a battery. If lifespan is not a concern and you have no issue buying new batteries on a yearly basis, buy the thinnest plates you can find.

If you are investing in a long term battery that you expect to hold up for years, buy a thick plate battery. It will cost more up front, but over the life of the battery, you will see a net savings over a thin plate battery.

They are built with a special power ferry dust:D
Wow that IS a lot of power.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

its the blue case //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
you forgot the false ratings also. any one looking to buy a kinetic just go to gruber battery and by them only think you dont get is the fancy label and the blue case

Kinetik are not authorized to be w-h-o-r-e-d out , They actually support car audio competitions and have a presence at every major finals event and do not "sneak in" guerrilla style. They have their own booths at such shows and they pay for supporting fees and usually pay for after parties and special events besides just trophy sponsorships. A lot of companies that get forum play do not support the sport and they do not get booths at SEMA or CES to help support the industry. Hell it cost what $250 to support USACI? If a company couldn't afford that I would worry about them being able to afford to cover warranties.

Kinetik also won Outstanding Manufacturer of 2008 USACI finals and they also win awards from distributors who sell other power cells.

I have owned my 1400 for going on 4 years. In the attached picture shows my hot voltage after changing my ****** fluid yesterday. This is after about 10 minutes or so at idle. When its cold It will read about 14.91v. I never had an issue with this battery. If I put water and baking soda on it it will not foam up even after a years time. Can't say the same for other AGM batteries I have had in there.
