I have a 2005 ford explorer and I am wondering if I was to get one more 9512 d4 what electrical upgrades would I need? I have a 130amp alternator and factory battery now, with my single 9512 d4 that I am running currently off my Orion 2500d and even with my gain less than half I am experiencing dimming at 1700wrms @ ohms. Just trying to get ideas of my cheapest way to go.

Try going with a power cell for starters. At least a 1800 if you go with Kinetik cause those DD's eat a lot of power. Your lookin at around $200. Electrical, your lookin at around $100 for a Big 3 kit. I would personally save the alt option for last and see how those two go first. ebay has explorer 200-250A alt's for around $160 with a full year warranty.

Set the gain right and you will loss some dimming. Half gain dont mean half power. If you dont know that I would suggest learning a lot more before you waste a lot of money in smoked equipment.

I understand that, I just know that typically on here I read people saying they are dimming but their gain is set to full, and secondly I am trying to learn that's why I am asking.

I run a 2500D @.5ohm all day long, stock 220A alt (yes I know), 86aH Merc stock battery up front, and a D3100 in the rear. No dimming until I've been going full bore for 2-3 minutes on some very bass heavy slowed type music.

On qualifying runs, I usually clamp 31-3200W.

There are a ton of threads on gain setting. It's used to match the head units pre out voltage. Not a power or volume knob. Any clipping will draw a lot more current then normal.

Problem is that there are NO stereo shops around my area in Atlanta that want to tune my system because they don't know the amp and speaker. A few have also said that my amp doesn't have that much tuning so they wouldn't work with it.

You don't need a shop. You need a $10 multi meter from Walmart. Read the **** stickies.
