Whats best for me

I currently have an Alpine 9813 and love it. Had another Alpine before that and loved it as well. However I am looking at getting a 7in LCD for placement in a map pocket above the dash and wanted to see what kind of HU to get...

I looked at the Alpine DVA 9860 but heard the MP3 scroll was slow. The 9861 looked nice, but i feel i am paying for the optical output it has, which i will never use.

What about the DVA-7996. I know its a few years old, but it does NOT have an internal amp, which is fine since i have eclipse amps, and actually desirable to save some money. ANy other brands people have used that may fit my application. My main functions would be DVD, IPOD, No AMP, and i guess MP3 function but thats standard now i think.

Did Alpine discontinue the 7996 series for the new 98xx's? I would think Alpine would make a HU with no internal amp still, but maybe not.

Also does anyone have any good 7'' screens they have used?

I was looking at a lilliput on ebay, but will the touchscreen be able to be used if I hook it up to the Alpine? I would think no, since its not programmed for it, but I was not sure.

Have you considered the w200 or w205. It might not have the tuning capabilities as your 9813, but you can always add the h701.

Those are DD arent they? I think i said i needed something single din that plays DVD and will use an external screen.
