whats a RROD xbox 360 worth?

i think that's a rumor.. because when i bought my elite about 3-4 months ago the sales guy at sears told it it had 5 years. i was like holy shit sweet! when i got home and opened the package and read all the crap it only had 1 year. though up to 5 years worth if i purchased the extended warrenty that is offered. i purchased an additional year of warrenty for mine right after i got it, the lady i talked to on the phone stated the start date and the finish date of my warrenty which it pretty much started 1 year after the purchase date of the console.so if they extended the warrenty to 3 years for every console well then i must be missing years or something. they should have told me after i purchased the extended warrenty that the 360 has 3yrs instead of one.

edit: i just did some searching for the 3yr warrenty thing to read up on some of it. i guess they did do this in mid 07, but why wouldn't it be given to my 360 after it was purchased after the date of their announcement?
because yours prolly has the falcon board in it, 99% less chance of getting the RROD... they dont need to give you the extended warranty

If you can use the warranty let MS fix it for you. If not you can do a goodle search for RROD fix. I've fixed a few of them I bought off of ebay and resold. The parts to fix it cost about $5 from Lowes. On average you can probably get about $100 on ebay like someone said with all the cables. I was grabbing them on there, and fixing them for $5 a piece in about 20 minutes and reselling them for $180.00.

The elites supposedly have corrected the rrod problem. Anything prior has 3 year warranty for rrod only.

However, I had a drive problem at 2 years and they still took care of me.

not all elites have the new mobos with the rrod corrected, you have to look at the power supply the new falcon boards use a lower output power supply. walmart let me check the sides of all boxes and I found 2 out 5 were new motherboards I bought 1 of course. there's a way to check by lot number but not sure which ones are which.

but honestly try the towel trick. google or youtube for info but 2 of my friends had the rrod and sold there 360s dirt cheap and my buddy used the towel trick to fix both and its been fixed for over a year no problems at all (except drive failure)

looking at mine if its 175wDC psu its supposedly rrod proof. also the power plug has no ground where it plugs into the wall and there's no metal where it plugs into the console and you can't fit the 175w psu into an older 203w 360 with the original board

good to know about how to distinguish the difference between the new falcon chipsets and the older version.

i recall my elite having the plug that doesn't have a ground peice in the wall plug. just has the 2 prongs.

i think you're an idiot. GET IT FIXED. there is a guy on the forums that can fix it.
do i need to say it again?
i have no use for it. my brother bought an elite. if i have him fix it i do not want to sell it with the possibility of crapping out on somebody and having them come back to me for a refund. also it would probably cost me more to get it shipped out and back than i will get for it when i sell it.

edit: either way i sent him a PM asking how the details and pricing.
