What would you do? 1992 Mustang GT hatchback

I have a 1992 Mustang GT hatchback. I'd like to get a nice system in there, but at the same time, not have to run a huge alternator (although I already have the SN95 130 amp alternator upgrade vs. the stock 75 amp) & not kill all of my trunk space. I decided on a Pioneer Premier DEH-P700BT for the head unit... What amp & subwoofer/set up would you run? Would like to spend no more than $750 for the amp & subwoofer combo. I listen to a lot of rock & rap music.

Really depends on how much space you're willing to sacrifice. A solid 10 or 12 ported should be sufficient since it's a hatchback. Heck, maybe even a sealed up 12 would be enough.

Check out this combo on SSA- It's a Sundown SAE-1000D with a SSA Icon 12 D2. Should be a nice setup that sounds good. If you would prefer to take up a little less space, seal it up. If you want louder, port it.

orion 2500d @ 2 ohms ( since no elec. upgrade) and a 12" or 15" death penalty! should be around your budget used

That sounds like a deal! Is that amp as good/comparable to a PG Xenon 600.1?

Sundown is well-known around here for having very solid amplifiers. It won't do the same power between 1 and 4 ohms like the Xenon will, but it's built solidly and puts out a clean 1000w RMS.

the orion puts out about 1800@2 ohms, I would think that would be a little too much even with the 135 amp alt.

these cars are notorious for shit charging systems. I had the 135 amp alt on my 90 5.0 stang and big3 and with a 1200wrms substage and 100x2 for components I had horriable dimming

car was **** loud though

That's the thing I don't wanna have is a dimming problem. Had it real bad in one of my previous Mustangs that had beat with the stock 75 amp alternator & underdrive pulleys!
