what would sound better out of these SSA options?

an icon 10 in the perfect box or an icon 12 in a box thats a little on the small side but still within the recommended specs? the box would be around 1.7 cubic feet and i'm looking for loudness and lows

I would guess the 10 in the proper box as a proper box is a big determining factor in power handling and overall output. Proper box will give you better overall output that cone area wont compensate for. I dont think the increase in cone area of the 12 would make up for shortcomings compared to the 10. I would rather have a sub in a proper box

Do the 12 if the airspace is close...you doing sealed or ported?

at that volume he must be talking ported. if ported - do it right. one ported 10 can be great... if properly located

i'm doing ported i just don't like the sound of sealed ones i got a pretty tiny trunk it's a 2003 mustang if that makes a difference. what do you mean if the airspace is close?

yeah i'd just wanna know if the 10 could outdo the sa-12 i have right now in a box that's 1.58 cubic feet after displacement. it gets pretty loud and low but i really want to try an ICON and and would like to know which would be better
