What would happen...

Ok, got a confusing situation. May be dropping down to 1 sub from 2. My box originally is 3.5 Cubic Feet tuned to 35hz. Let's say I sell the subs without the box. If I were to convert my box into a single 12" subwoofer setup, could I just pull the front board and replace it with one for a single 12? What would that increase the cubes to? Anyone do this before? Really dont wanna go through so much hassle to decrease from 2 to 1 subs.

It might work well and it might not. You could just seal up one hole with a piece of MDF and give it a shot.

Your sub will not need as much power and it will be easier to bottom it out. Also, there will be increased port area for the single 12 which can be a problem if you already had a large amount to begin with.

I run a single 12 in 3 cubes and it is perfectly fine. Nice and rich low end; just what I wanted.

i don't know how your box is built, but i don't think you can "just pull the front board" if you are keeping the box the same size, just taking out the second sub, your tuning and volume will be about the same (assuming you had a common chamber for the subs. the driver displacement is what would be subtracted, but i have no idea what subs you have so that may or may not effect it a lot. why not just build another box?
