i dont think i want to mess with an amp (unless it is totally worth it?) and i dont think i need rear speakers,,, I just want kick *** front door speakers, and was looking at the polk 650 6.5's... are these the best for the price? or can you recommend GReat speakers that will run off 22 rms

1st: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wave.gif.002382ce7d7c19757ab945cc69819de1.gif Welcome to the forum. Hopefully your time here will be enjoyed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

2nd: No coaxial speakers or component sets are going to sound "great" off of nothing but headunit power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

3rd: Your average headunit will not output its rated RMS power without a fairly high level of distortion or clipping of the internal amp. If the given ratings are 22w X 4 RMS (is it a Kenwood headunit?) then actual unclipped, undistorted output is more likely in the range of 15~18w per channel RMS.

4th: Like lrgnation has already posted if you're looking for truly satisfying sound then you're going to want to go ahead and bite the bullet and endure the hassle and added expense of an outboard amp. Once you've decided on a set of speakers whether they be coaxials or a component set, come back and let us know what you decided on and we can go from there to help with recommedations on a suitable amp for whatever you've chosen.

ok... Can anybody recomend a nice 100x2 amp and speakers? im looking for a nice overal sound that can bump a little. i dont plan on getting a 10 or 12 inch woofer for the rear.

Pioneer REV coax's and a Profile amp. Check out millionbuy for prices. Good budget sound.

The polk's aren't that good off HU or amped IMO.

No speakers are going to bump, so plan on a sub sooner or later.

How about you tell us a proposed budget first?

100w X 2 + speakers can range anywhere from $200 to...well.....considerably more if you have the scratch to spend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

just put some alpine type-s's in my friends car off an alpine headunit (22wrmsx4). they lacked some midbass but got perdy loud and crisp

im looking to spend around 100-150 for nice speakers, coax or comp,, and about the same for the amp... these will be going in the front doors of a sunfire. and my headunit is the pioneer 580mp

you can run this amp

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=451

Which is a really good price for a decent amp.

And a set of these component speakers can be had from a member on here (djdilliodon) for 185 shipped.

I will actually be installing a similar setup but my friends amp has less power.

The cdt speakers are similar to this set here.

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1099

The only difference is that the set from don includes a 1" tweeter. That set would sound really good with that power.

If you need an install kit for the amp. 8ga power wire would be sufficient.

http://knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=eKo-K8

That company produces quality wires with good customer service. And 18 bucks is a decent price for the kit. The only other thing you might order is some more speaker wire.

Honestly it is worth doing the the setup right the first time. You may end up spending more money right now but you are saving yourself in the long run.

Tingirl:

I actually have been working on upgrading my '99 Sunfire. I just redid all the stock speakers and HU. I went with the Pioneer 590IB HU which is pretty kickass. For the Rear 6x9's I went with the Pioneer Premier TS-A942P as for the Front I upgraded from the stock 4x6's to Alpine type S's 6.5" speakers.

Everything is powered off my HU for now. (actually making a seperate post for advice on what I should do) Though I do get clipping on my front speakers alot when i turn the HU up near max. So from personal reccomendation I would say the Alpines 6.5's for the front would def rock for a coax speaker (personally if you want to spend the money go with the Type R's like i orginally wanted too and the stupid guy told me they wouldn't fit when they would have) either way Type S or Type R are going to sound good off a HU and with an AMP sound Amazing (for a coax anyway)

Front Comps:

Amp:

or

or

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13703

or

The PowerBass ASA600.2

Get a 4 guage wiring kit in case you do want to run a small sub and amp later on. Any pricing difference will be well worth it. And so will adding a sub.

But if you just want to run off the HU, no more no less, look into Pioneer REV speakers.
