What would be louder? (2) Good 15's or (6) average 12's??

i would just put one sub of each size just to cover all the bases.

All things considered the 6 12's will probably be louder overall. Fairly simple physics, there's going to be too much more air dispaced by the 12's, assuming you can power them and give them adequate space. I'd rather have the 15's, but I'm more of a sq guy than a basshead, quality over quantity for me.

In theory, but you also have to consider the install and this guy doesn't strike me as the fastest sperm in the scrotum, so you have to account for cancellation in a bad install, and not always will displacing more air put up better SPL numbers.
