what would be better for my amp?

to run it at 4 ohms and have the gain pretty high or to run it at 1 ohm and have the gain set lower?, also would the load my alternator be the same either way?

Running it at 4 Ohms will provide for lower overall current draw and lower running temperature for the amp. Higher resistance = longer amp life (generally)

cause i have 2 type r and a hifonics amp(1600 at 1 ohm, 1200 at 2, and 900 at 4), after comparing my results with a friends it seems that mines not hitting as hard as his, thats why im thinking of going up to one ohm. what do u guys think?

if the amp is 1 ohm stable then run it at 1 ohm, im sure its not going to draw that much power
