what wires to use

I have a Phoenix Gold Xenon X600.1 (rated at 842 watts RMS) and a Diamond D3 400.4. What wire should I be using from my battery to the distribution block and from the block to each of my amps? The block is in back on my subwoofer box in the trunk and the two amplifiers are about 2-2.5 ft. away from the block.

alright cool. should i do the big 3 upgrade with 4 gauge wires? will this help anything? my car is a 1998 passat. my lights dont really dim. but i am running 2 12w3v2-d4s with that xenon amp, feels like its not reaching its full potential.
