im really close to this purchase but just tryin to get some last minute opinions on this i want to buy this Power Maxx USA HO alt 250A @ 1200 Rpms looked up on some reviews people say worked pretty good . i guess the real question is would this be good enough for running a 5,000 watt solo x sub and a hifonics amp 2400.1 ? i used to run this system on my jaguar stock alt and it killed it, very bad dimming every time bass would hit but now im going to put this on my expedition this time im doing the big 3 what yall think?

I wouldn't mess with them. Haven't heard that much good or bad but they look shady

Your Solo X is rated 5000 watts rms. I would not recommend giving it more then 2500-3000. ive seen them blow pretty quick on a legit 5k rms.

Also when i comes to powering your system, the subs power means nothing, it doesnt make the power, the amp does. So you would be looking at figuring if you eletrical will be able to support 2400 watts rms(not 5000).

Umm rms of a sub kinda matters. Cuz say I have my 8,000 watt amp hooked up to a Rockford p1 at 1ohm it's hardly gunna take any power but I hook up a solo x to it of coarse it's gunna draw more power to get that thing movin hehe

dont get me wrong im running kicker CVT's right now for shallow mounts and they get loud. but kicker subs are far from a high power/quality sub IMO

You're just jealous that the guy in the video is louder than you. The gold spray paint adds 2 db yo

I've seen Solo X's handle 5000 all day. I've even seen them handle way more than that for burps.

so i guess for now im going to replace the stock alt wires with 1/0 gauge and ground to chassis and see if ill get any dimming cause like i said i use to have this system om my jag but im more the sure that the jag alt was less amp than my expedition which i believe is 110a stock and plus i just realized that i had a terrible ground when connected to the jag ....

Im not being a d1ck, but what does the rms of the sub have to do with what size/brand alt he buys? He asked would it be good for the his 5000 watt solo x(sub doesnt create power, it takes power) and his hifonics 2400 watt amp.

okay well maybe i asked the wrong question . so the sub is 5000watts and 2500,rms i have the hifonics brutus 2400.1 what i wanted know if an HO alt was needed to to power this system or just a second batt. and i asked if anybody heard of power maxx usa alts ? all this being said i had this system on another car and it use to dim very bad when bass would hit but also i just realized a had a sorry ground and no second batt could that have been the issue?

you will need a bigger alt and atleast two good batts.

but you also said that sub rms matters in the question on which alt to get
