What tuning specs for RE 8's

I only bottomed mine out occasionally once I learned their limits. Good part is they are cheap so if you crash a couple they aren't too bad to replace //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
very true

yeah. it sucks that re8's bottom out so easy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif they can take a lot of power and not have any problem but with lower tunings they do bottom out.. sucks.

not suggesting this cuz i have no experience in this area but how would they sound in a bandpass? i wonder if that would help with the bottoming out
Might help cover up the sound of them bottoming out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

or place the subs on the back of the box facing the rear seat:D that would cover it up too haha

lol, as you can see in my signature, i have 2 RE8s running off a Memphis 500.1

so thats 250 watts each, about 75 watts each OVER what they are rated, plus the box is a little overly large...so, I have to keep the gain down a good bit, and turn the subsonic filter up a bit...they will still bottom out some on certain songs, but they sound great IMO

shake the trunk real good, and if I open the back seat...my rearview mirror vibrates until it faces down...

however, IMO my setup is still more SQ....cause as long as i don't go over 3/4 volume, they don't bottom out,and they sound great...the sound quality is a LOT better than some of the bigger subs I've heard that seem to have more distortion

btw, the 135.dbs I hit...was with a 400 watt PG amp, hoping to get them remetered soon and see if I've increased any.

ur box is tuned @35hz but peaked at 50hz? is it me or is that a little odd?

ok so this is what i got for now, still no sketch =/

2.4 cubes net (1 chamber)

~32 in^2 port area (16 in^2 per ft^3 if we go with a slot port)

subs up

port back (centered on the bottom?)

chime in on the port placement SVT

edit: were gonna go with 0.6 per sub as we can always take away some space but not add

Do you remember that box i had in the hatch that had 2 12" with the subs up and port back? That box had the port in the middle but al the way to the bottom(slot port) if we go slot thats the way i want it. I dont know about the aeros if it matters where they go

oh pm sent too

got ur pm.

I know what you mean with slot port all the way down at the bottom centered.

only possibility with aeros is 2x 3" aeros but i have a feeling that might be too much.

Just to make sure with the pros, aeros are ALMOST 2x as efficient as slot ports so you take what slot port area you have, divide by 2 and use that for your aeros?

Totally different scenario, but just to show port to box ratio...I ran a q15 in a 4 cube box with one 6" aero (7 square inch of port per cube of box) and had no port noise whatsoever.

So that wasn't much port but it did its job with no noise...could it have been louder with more port...who knows.

well if my fundamentals are correct,

that 7in^2 of aero port would be almost equal to 14in^2 of non aero port:crazy:

and that falls in to my guideline of having between 14-16 in^2 of port per cube.

Im making this to hard on myself haha.

good thing im really bored and have nothing else to do right now but ponder how to make aeros work for SVT's box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

if only the bastards had a 5" aero
