What to use on the box when you replace you sub??

T-Nuts

there little metal cylinder things that are threaded on both sides, screw em in the an allen wrench then they never come out. Then use bolts to hold the sub in...if you need to take the sub out all you have to do is back the bolts out. T-Nuts will last a helluva lot longer than wood (as far as getting stripped)

********. T-nuts can lick my ass. I will never use T-nuts after two of the steel ones stripped in my enclosure forcing me to cut open the enclosure and rip my sub out. **** t-nuts.

I've never used these:

I have no clue what they're called but my dad gets me these different TeeNuts...they're like steel tubes with threads still on the outside but no gripping teethe or anything. They have a hex head so you drill a hole, screw them in with an allen wrench, then just use em....never had a problem with em stripping out or anything!

edit: Found em! They're called "insert nuts" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Gotta know how to work the t-nuts.... I noticed, they will render useless/loosen/strip if you cheap out on em and get the lil bitty ones, OR over tighten.

Those Insert Nuts, where can i get em, look nice, but dangerous for mdf.....how would u tap those into the wood without dmging it?

I guess the side pieces don't stick out that far to cause too much dmg.

One of my T-nuts were stuck because the flaps just folded over when trying to take the sub out. The other one just ripped the MDF from underneath. My allen bolts got mis-threaded on the way out. How, I don't know. I do know that I'm not an idiot and had matching threads on both the nuts and bolts. I haven't tried "insert nuts" but I seriously doubt the price would be worth it to me. Especially when screwing into the wood has yet to let me down and doesn't cost a **** thing.

There's a reason that I always seat T-nuts with a mallet when I plan on torquing them down at all.
I did that with mine and two of eight still failed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I think the bolts are still stuck in them right now at my place in Ocala.
