I think im gonna pick one up to help juice the kinetik2400. Is there anything specific i should be looking for in a HO alternator? it seems everywhere i look, the websites dont really say what kind of ampereage they are giving. Honestly, i dont know Shit about what to get or where to look heh. Seems mean green and ohio alternators are popular. I've looked at the mean green website and they dont say what kind of amperage the alts give, but havent looked into ohio yet.

hmm, so i should really be concentrating on the idle ampereages instead? i saw that the prices on the mean green alt's werent bad. $370 for my application. I guess i'll prolly just go with them seeing i dont need anything TOO serious. 2500RMS mono amp and a 100x2 2ch amp heh.

You just want to make sure the ALT. makes good power at or just off of idle. You dont want to have to rev your motor to 5k to get the full power from it. You cant go wrong with a Mean green.

mean green told me 120a/200a idle/cruise respectivly.

the alt will come out to be roughly $392 depending on shipping. H-O brand alternator will be about $450. although i havnt used a H-O alt, my mean green is working like a champ for the time ive had it so far. i wouldnt go with the ohio, just because i believe they specialize in all GM parts. and seeing as you got a ford, i would suggest mean green or H-O for a direct bolt on.

I was looking into getting an irragi alternator, Ive heard good thing about them and for my car it had a 100amp idle

the last H/O alt was bought for me and it had a 0amp idle and I had to run like 4k engine rpm to get my 180amps and it never worked right either, charge light was always stuck on and died after about a year

even took it to get tested on a real alternator testing machine, not those things at autozone and it had the same problems so do your research before buying one, some are just not even worth having and are still way expensive, mine was 425$ and it wasnt worth 100$

I would say mean green or irragi from what Ive heard around here, but get advice from somebody who has used it before buying, Im just passing on something that alot of other people have had good luck with

so ohio specializes in GM vehicles? i should be buying a full size GM vehicle this morning if everything goes as planned heh. ill check out both ohio and mean green then and see who has the better deal. does ohio have a website or anything? i cant seem to find anything

dont know if ohio only works with GM's but thats what the insinuated when i asked about dual alternator brackets. btw ohio doesnt sell to the public. you have to go through a dealer so there will be more markup.

your best bet is mean green or H-O alternators

thats not true ohio gen now does sell to the public and i just got my alt for my toyota echo and it looks the same but heavier also there hrs are m-thur they close at 5:30 est instead of 4:30 like the site says. of cours ei paid 540 bucks for my alt it better be worth it. From what i notice so far i think it seems to drop voltage alot when im braking and maybe at idle but as soon as i hit gas it jumps up to 13.7 of cours ei am using a 20 buck cig. lighter voltage meter.

hmm thats kinda cool i guess. so if your down to buy Ohio gens alternators you now dont have to go through a middle man.
