If your using your stock hu with a LOC or high level inputs on your amp where would you connect the rem wire?

To any 12v source controlled by the ACC switch.

Locate a wire that powers up when you turn the key to the on position.

Key-switched power works fine in most cases. In some vehicles you can purchase a reverse wire harness that plugs into the factory radio, and provides a remote output even if there's not one in the stock harness. There are also voltage-sensing modules available that will connect to your speaker wire and provide a 12VDC output whenever anything's playing on the speakers.
