ok i just got a new hu... its a jvc kd-s30... it has all the wires and stuff but ive only had one other hu and this jvc has a wire that im not familiar with. i no that the red wire is the constant, the yellow is the one where it only comes on when the car's on the black is the ground and all of the speaker connectors. theres also another wire... its orange. i bought this unit used and i dont no where to hook this wire to. can any one help? i can hook up the constant and the yellow wires and the unit comes on, but i think i still need to hook the orange up. also i dont no wats wrong but the speaker wires dont work. can someone help me with this also?

wat do u mean i have the wires switched? i have the red wire to the constant and the yellow to the accessory.... and which wire does the orange go to?

What he means is exactly what he said! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The yellow should be connected to constant (this keeps your clock, radio station presets, etc working as they should) and the red should be connected to accessory (so the unit turns on and off with the ignition)

The orange wire is for illumination, or the dimmer. Did the factory head unit's display dim to a certain extent when you turned the headlights on? If so there will be a wire in the factory harness that controls that function and your new JVC is compatible (as are more current HUs out there nowadays) with this function. It'll (the orange wire) make the JVC's display dim when the headlights are activated like the OEM deck used to.

ok figured out the problem... internal amp doesnt work. i have a small amp hooked up for the speakers now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
